Market Segment - Telecommunications IndustryClientSprints Network Operations Center is responsible for the build out the their Wide Area Network (WAN) DS3 backbone throughout North America. Their operations center operates on a 24x7x365 schedule providing customer support, network availability, and network provisioning. Project BackgroundAs the Internet met an explosion of growth in the 1990’s Sprint began building out their network to accommodate a growing customer base. As their network continued to grow it became evident that hardware order process controls were needed to build out regional switching stations with new hardware. Orders for new equipment had to balanced against suppliers lead times and customer band width needs. SolutionData Interaction provided support for Sprint's Network Operations Center (NOC) to integrate and automate network provisioning using Oracle’s Supply Chain Management (SCM) module. Data Interaction leveraged the Oracle COTS module by adapting it to Sprint’s business processes to provide real-time network status and assignment of the Sprint Link fiber channel network to it’s customers. Using Oracle’s dimensional data model Data Interaction provided Sprint an application to maintain an accurate view of their existing network, future planning, and customer pricing and availability.
As Sprint’s NOC reliance grew on the SCM system they decided to further engage Data Interaction and requested a clustered high availability solution be architected. Not only did Data Interaction understand the technology but we were also able to deliver the high availability environment with a operating database prior to the milestone date.
